BABS Convention is the 'main event' for Black Cat Harmony and we've competed every year since 2018, with the exception of 2020 & 2021, when the event was cancelled because of Covid.

Open rehearsals
We usually have an 'open rehearsal' every year, where we invite other singers to join us for the day. These events are always huge fun and people often join us after attending such events.

Summer Social - August '23
We love singing together and we also believe it's important to socialise together. We only rehearse once a month so it's a good way for our newer members, in particular, to get to know us all better. This was our fourth Summer Social, held at the lovely home of two of our founder members. Two of our quartets sang for us and the sun shone!

Rehearsal and pub visit - Aug '23
We had a great rehearsal with our new (to us) risers. We then went to The Guinea Pub in Moggerhanger, where we received a very warm welcome. This was the first time that most of us had been there. We sang a few songs, which were well-received, then spent some time socialising in the pub garden. There's little doubt that this might become a regular post-rehearsal watering hole!

Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama - Mar '23
We were delighted to win the A Cappella class in the Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama, especially as we were joined on stage by several members who had only recently joined us!

Rehearsal and Social - Dec '22
Having a 'post-rehearsal social' after our December rehearsal has become a bit of a tradition! We bought in a buffet from a local catering company — and very good it was too!

Potton View Care Home - Oct '22
After our rehearsal, we went to the Potton View Care Home, where we sang for the residents and staff. Three of our members also sing with The Firebirds - barbershop quartet and their quartet also performed. A very rewarding day.

Summer Social - July '22
We had a lovely time today at our summer social event, eating, drinking, chatting, singing, playing music and even messing about on the river! We also discussed our plans for the coming months, kicking off with our Open Day on Saturday 3rd September.

Rehearsal - Aug '21
We'd been lucky to have space in the car park behind our rehearsal venue to rehearse outside, but that was such hard work, so we were very relieved to be able to sing indoors again, even if we still had to wear masks!

When You Wish Upon A Star - Dec '20
Black Cat Harmony were delighted to be able to join with Rhapsody UK Chorus and some wonderful guest singers to learn and record this special version of the Disney classic, "When You Wish Upon A Star". As part of this project, we created a fundraiser for the "When you Wish Upon A Star" charity that raised almost £1,400!

Smile - Aug '20
We'd just begun to learn 'Smile' when lockdown started, so it made sense to use this song for our first lockdown singing project. In February '21, we were absolutely delighted the President's Award at the online North Northamptonshire Music Festival for the most memorable performance (our video of 'Smile'). The President said of our performance: "Black Cat Harmony have the most beautiful harmonies and diction, it is so difficult to put these sorts of videos together and we the music world have truly adapted over the past year. The blend of voices was sublime, and the song choice itself was very apt".
